Before I begin to poke fun at this project and the people involved I need to thank them. Without their trust and dedication MiME would not be where it is today. We could not be more grateful.
Now that gratitude has been expressed I have one question.
Did anyone from the cast read the script?
Yes, it is true. To this day the only people who know the full story of A5H are the two guys that wrote it. I lie. There was a handful of individuals that went the extra mile and we truly love them for it. All in all I'm pretty sure we didn't go a single day without explaining what was going on in the story as we were filming. Of course I can laugh about it now but when your on take 49 at 3am, your hard drives are bursting at the seams from hours of useless footage and your miles away from your bed, all you want to do is take your ball and go home.
Season 2 will be different. He says #jokingnotjoking.
But I want to be clear. Everyone went above and beyond for this project. Whether it was meeting at crazy locations, helping to set up or being onsite early for a 5am shoot. (...looking at you Leesa ). Everyone sacrificed to make this happen. And We are truly grateful.
And with that, here are our top 5 A5H moments..
5. The first look
This being MiME's first official in-house project we had no idea what to expect when all was said and done, and we were back in the office piecing together the first rough-cut of episode 1. We were both very excited and heartbroken. Oh what could have been if we just . . .
I made multiple efforts to try to create a blooper reel worthy of the in person experience. But nothing truly captures the good times we had on set.
3. Wardrobe Misfortunes
I'm not exactly sure what went wrong from the email the night before to the day of, but on one particular shoot day wardrobe was a hot mess. There's just no other way to describe it.
2. A Magic Moment
There have been some really great moments on set. But I must say, if I ever had a favorite it would have to be the "the face-off" between Leesa Hall and Kirk Dunchie. Despite the tension between the two characters in that particular scene, the actors playing the role supported and pushed each other further. They truly made us feel invested in the characters. Also, their outtakes were pretty funny.
1. You win again Murphy's Law!
So we arrived on location to finish filming the "heart to heart by the lake" scene with Kirk Dunchie and Jose Vasquez at 5am Sunday morning in order to match the lighting for the sunrise. To our distress we were met by quite the road block... literally.
The night before, there was a pretty bad storm in Toronto where tornadoes around the lake and high winds caused a lot of damage.
TORNADOES! ... In TORONTO!
So naturally , when we arrived at the location the one spot where we were supposed to film was completely and utterly destroyed!
