The Affinity Suite (by Serif) is arguably the best answer to Adobe's monopoly on design software. When Adobe changed their payment options to be exclusively subscription based it sent many of their trusting and faithful patrons spinning into the digital universe, scavenging for an alternative. The change sparked a major shift in the creative landscape inspiring other major creative application developers (like Autodesk) to follow suit.
